Photo-shoot Details
During a photo session, we are all models. If someone is receiving a photo session from one of ShutterSpire's photographic artists, then they are referred as a model. Now, they may not be the typical 'runway model' we are all familiar with, but the general idea is to present a level of professionalism to the photo shoot. ShutterSpire is not a typical photography company. We pride ourselves on the level of dedication and service provided to the client while respecting artistic ability. Continue reading to learn more about how to make your photo session as comfortable as possible for yourself and the photographic artist.

What to Expect
Photo sessions can be over whelming for some folks. Others, there's nothing that feels different or odd. Some people react to photos differently that others. All types of feelings are perfectly normal and we expect that some will be more comfortable getting their photos taken than others. We strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible for the model(s).

As a model for portrait sessions, you are expected to be professional, willing to work with the photographic artist on poses and suggestions, and understand that ideas presented to you are to make the pictures come out as beautiful as possible.

Photo sessions generally last about 1 hr, but sessions usually turn out better with at least 2 hours. There is typically a setup time, getting to know the model(s) time, and picking out areas that may require more time than originally thought. The more time you have to work with the photographic artist, the more natural the photos will turn out.

What to Wear
Generally, portait sessions are relaxed and are intended for you to be comfortable. A nice outfit, jeans, button down shirts, skirts, dresses, and most clothes you would consider 'nice' usually work well. Avoid wearing extreme vibrant colors unless it makes you feel more comfortable or if you wish to present a certain tone to the picture. Vibrant colors tend to pull the attention away from the model.

We usually get an idea of what types of environments and moods you want portrayed in the photos before the event.
Most of our sessions are outdoor although we are currently expanding our services to include a portable setup for on-location studio shots from the comfort of your own home. Look forward to a ShutterSpire studio in the future.

Specific Session Info
Maternity
Maternity shots are quite personal and can be a lot of fun to have taken. The idea of cataloging the progress of your unborn child into childhood is a very exciting feeling. The best clothing to wear is tight fitting jeans that can be unbuttoned at the top and folded down. This allows the curves to be accented in the photos; which is the most beautiful part of an expecting mother. Feel free to explore all avenues of tops you feel comfortable with for the shoot.

Head Shots
Head shots are generally for actors, musicians, and anyone seeking talent representation. Head shots are generally quick, close up shots and are best done in an outside environment with little background detail. The focus is on the model's face.

Feel free to bring make up or a make up specialist to the shoot or have preparations done before-hand. If you decide to have another vendor at the location, please provide the name and contact number for them before the shoot. We have to coordinate with any outside vendors.

Senior and College Portraits
Senior and college portraits are meant to be a very fun and care-free photo shoot. The shots are meant to express excitement and joy due to the major accomplishment you have completed or are near completion. These sessions can be as formal or casual as desired. If you are modeling with a group of people or even another person, it's important to coordinate the outfits so that neither models stand out more than the others. Neutral colors work very well with small accent colors to bring life to the photos.
